TGIF

I got to see a tiny figurine of Erykah Badu performing live last month! Happy day. When I was in 3rd grade all the girls were talking about how cute Justin Timberlake and Lance Bass (haha sucks for them!!) were. I was writing profound 3rd grader poetry, listening to "Apple Tree", and singing to my cat. Omg I was the original quirky girl! Take that Zooey! ;)

Yakiniku baby

Graduation ceremony? Borrring. Elder Holland's talk? Ok that was actually pretty cool. Seeing me with my weight in leis wrapped around my neck? Getting warmer.
All those exciting things aside.
For my family who could not attend, I love you but this is what you really missed on my graduation day.

Don't worry, I'm not holding anything against anyone, it's all in the spirit of fun. LOVE YOU GUYS.

New Year!

Aloha!

Happy New Year everyone! 2011 was a pretty significant year for me. I graduated from BYUH finally, and am finally on my own. This year I got to go home for the summer and see my family and some friends. I saw my beautiful niece Ania and her rascal twin brothers. I also met my precious nephew Hulu boy for the first time. Sadly, I had to say good bye to some of my good friends as they left back home to their countries (and states), and I have yet to make very many new ones (yes, I'm a little bit of a loner right now). I also moved quite a few times, which makes it even better now that I've settled into a more permanent place.

Overall, I've done a lot of thinking, and reading, and brain-developing. I've learned a lot this year. It's stuff everyone should know, but doesn't really know until they've experienced it firsthand.

-For one, I've learned that I need to surround myself with people who respect me. There is nothing more demeaning, and soul-sucking, than being around people who's sole purpose in life is to boost their own ego.

-Something else I learned is that I can't fix other people's problems. All I can do is listen, and try to offer constructive advice. The rest is up to the individual(s).

-A big one for me is that I can't compare myself to others. It's a trap! As soon as I start to do this, I want to curl up in a ball and cry. So, no more, gotta stop with that.

-And one more for good measure, even when it seems like nothing could get worse, it can, and probably will.   AND right when it seems like things couldn't be any better, they can, and they DO.

In September I felt really scared because I had just finished school and had zero plans for my post-graduate life. While I still don't have everything figured out, I'm working through it one day at a time. Life is good, and with the right attitude I think the rest of this year can be amazinnng...

Now, here are some pictures of my holidays.

This is Nathan's photo of his family's house Christmas morning.
See his blog HERE

Another one of Nate's photos. These are my new Betsey Johnson earrings :)

This is Taua and me in front of Iolani Palace during Christmas time. It's much prettier in person. :)

On New Year's Eve we discovered that the best place to see random illegal fireworks, is from the 12th floor.

And I found that it's fun to take a picture with a delayed flash, then shake the camera really fast so you get all these pretty light in the background. (On the lanai)

Last night me and Nathan went to the Chinese New Year celebration. It was cool! Lots of food, dancing, and  jade bracelets for sale.

I Got my Hurr Did!

Guess what? I cut my hair.
It's kind of a funny story.
One day, I was left with too much time on my hands.
I found some scissors. And then I looked in the mirror.
And then...I cut my bangs.
A few hours later, I was at the Salon getting it fixed.
And the lady kept cutting and...cutting..and...
like 7 inches later, I had a completely new head of hair! Voila!
I wasn't mad, and I didn't cry. I like how healthy it is now, and I know it'll grow back.
The bangs look a little funny sometimes, so I don't let them out much, but I'm getting used to it.
And now for the evidence...

THE INSPIRATION

BEFORE

This is me with a full head of hair. When straightened it almost touched my okole.

And...

AFTER

So this is me, with really thinned out, straightened hair and heavy heavy bangs. I know I don't look like Katerina Graham, but what do you expect when you cut your own hair? The hairstylist could only fix so much! I still feel kind of insecure about the new look, but it's growing on me (hahaha I got jokes today!).

Copoeira Goes to Bed

This video has the coolest choreography. If I died and could come back as any celebrity I wanted, it would be this woman.

Dear aiga and friends,

This is my first post of a "personal" blog. I just thought I'd join the bandwagon and let you all in on some of the details that even Facebook cannot explain.
My life at the moment is not terribly interesting, but here's a start:

I recently moved to Honolulu. There are lots of cars, and lots of noise here. And lots of people. Oh, and lots of weird smells. I'm trying to get used to it--it's not the Hawaii I grew up knowing.

This is my best friend and my love. He's cute.

And we have 2 illegitimate children. I'm sorry if you had to find out like this. Please don't judge us. Their names are Chococat and Sock Monster. They obviously take after their father...

Ok, so that's that. More to come.
